How do I make a cup of tea?
The formula for making a cup of tea is very simple and easy to remember: You use 1 teaspoon of tea leaves per 1 cup of water. Just put 1 teaspoon of tea leaves into your tea infuser. Put the infuser into your cup/mug; pour hot water over the infuser to fill your cup; let it steep for 3 to 5 minutes (times vary by tea type and personal taste); remove infuser and tea is ready!
How should I store my tea?
Keep tea in the airtight tin it comes in—to protect it from light, humidity and high temperatures. Keep in a dry, cool place away from the stove and do not store in the refrigerator or freezer. Also, keep it away from items with strong smells. Oxygen, moisture, and strong aromas are all hazardous to the delicate subtleness of tea.
What is the shelf life of your teas?
Approximately 2 years when kept in the tin and used regularly.
Where are your teas from?
Our teas are sourced primarily from China, India, Sri Lanka, Africa, and Thailand.
Is loose leaf tea a better quality tea than grocery store tea bag teas? Why?
Yes, it is a better quality tea for a number of reasons. In the tea industry, tea leaf grading is the process of evaluating products based on the quality and condition of the tea leaves themselves. The highest grades are referred to as "orange pekoe", and the lowest as "fannings" or "dust." When crushed to make bagged teas, the tea is referred to as "broken.” These lower grades are fannings and dust, which are tiny remnants created in the sorting and crushing processes. This tea dust does not have the same delicious flavor or important natural plant oils left in it as do the fuller pieces of tea leaves.
